According to the official reply of the Office of Central Institutional Organization Commission, the Beijing Intellectual Property Office has been founded. Relevant issues are hereby published as follows:

1.Beijing Intellectual Property Office will perform its legal function from November 6, 2014.

2.In accordance with Decision of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress on Founding of Intellectual Property Courts in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou and Regulation of the Supreme People’s Court on Jurisdiction of Intellectual Property Courts in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, Beijing Intellectual Property Court has centralized jurisdiction over civil and administrative intellectual property cases which the Beijing intermediate courts have jurisdiction.

3.The Beijing intermediate courts, from November 6, 2014, will not receive civil or administrative intellectual property cases. For civil and administrative intellectual property cases brought or appealed by the interested parties by November 5, 2014, where the intermediate people’s courts have accepted yet not concluded, the intermediate people’s court shall continue the trial; for civil and administrative intellectual property cases, where the interested parties have already submitted materials of litigation or appeal, but the cases haven’t yet been accepted, the intermediate people’s courts shall continue the examination, acceptance and trial.
