The State Intellectual Property Office held a press conference announcing its opening of patent information resource of the five offices of China, US, EU, Japan and Korea for free. This is the first platform which not only provides domestic patent data, but also does provide basic patent data in foreign countries to the public. The Deputy Director of the State Intellectual Property Office, Mr. Gan Shaoning, emphasized that the opening of patent information resource is a specific measure of carrying out the requirement of streamlining administration and instituting decentralization, and pushing forward the government information publicity by the Party Central Committee and the State Council. The opening of patent information resource will effectively safeguard the implementation of the strategy of development driven by innovation, stimulate the market’s vitality, promote the development of intellectual property service industry, and produce good economic and social benefits.

According to introduction, the system provides 12 updated data, including the bibliographic data, full text, images of the full text, and English abstract, etc. of the Chinese patents. According to the statistics, the data of current patent files opened in the patent data service system accounted for around 80% of the current world patent data.
